  • The Magic Of Keeping It Simple

You have heard the saying, "Keep It Super Simple" (it's a little different, I just cleaned it up to keep it family friendly).
KISS applies to everything, and more than ever, it needs to be applied to trading.

The more you overcomplicate your trading system, the more you are going to find that it doesn't perform the way you want it to.

A more complicated system will deliver late signals, missed entries, late exits, and so on. There will be no benefit to an over-complicated system.
When a trader adds more features to a system, what they are looking for is additional confirmation, and additional confirmation will always backfire.

Take a look at the video, I can trade a system that uses only 3 moving averages and nothing more. It's simple, easy to use, and very profitable.

What is the indicator setting of the dashed long-term trend line in your video Russ?

I like to use combinations of 4, the solid blue moving average is 34 EMA, so the longer dashed moving average is 136 EMA. It is a good reflection of the 34 EMA on the next higher timeframe.

It's important to note that the longer term MA does not have to be an exact setting. An approximate setting will work just as well. You can use anything from 89 to 500. What I want to do with it is give me a clear reflection of the medium term average of the current timeframe as it would appear on the higher timeframe.
